It’s no secret that women in the workplace today face multiple difficulties in being able to step into senior executive roles. I know this struggle firsthand because I lived it. Receive personal executive coaching from a Global Executive of a Fortune 500 Company and Accelerate Your Career Success

It’s no secret that women in the workplace today face multiple difficulties in being able to step into senior executive roles. I know this struggle firsthand because I lived it. It was not an easy journey as a Latin American woman, to move up the executive  ladder of a Fortune 500 IT corporation as I did.

As a Latina, I grew up with the belief that in order to be accepted I had to be perfect and work very hard to proof my self-worth. Those beliefs became the drivers for most of my career. In 1992 I graduated as an Industrial Engineer from the University of Illinois in Chicago. I then soon got married and joined the corporate world working for Ameritech

But life has its ups and downs, and in 1998 I got divorced. I was 28 years old and my son was 4. I moved back to Colombia to be close to my family. In 1999, I joined a Fortune 500 company in the IT Industry and moved to Spain with my son. I worked there until 2008, when I transferred to the US and continued to successfully climb the executive ladder in the company.

I spent most of my career thinking, that in order to rise and succeed, it was necessary to become a workaholic, sacrificing family time and health, usually feeling conflicted knowing that more was possible. But how was it possible without a clear vision of how to get it?

With a tendency to be hypercritical of my work, I considered that my accomplishments weren’t as important as people said, and I defined my self-worth based on my professional identity.

I was EXHAUSTED, DRAINED and FEELING EMPTY. I was traveling around the world with little time for myself, dealing with huge pressure to get results, and doing my best to keep my teams motivated. I was a high achiever, but at the same time, I was considered too bossy.

I really wanted to be a good leader for my team and be able to move forward in my career! I needed to get help and really disrupt myself, take a BOLD move and develop my authentic leadership POWER!

I had to work hard to crush my inner critic, develop confidence and self-worth, break the mindset barriers and change the stereotyped habits that were holding me back.

After more than two decades in the corporate world, it was time to find a new goal and design a new career with a strong purpose. I wanted to help other women to be successful in their careers without the struggles that I had to go through.

“The Latina in me is an ember that blazes forever”
